O17 Multidisciplinary decision-making strategies may reduce the need for surgery in complex colonic polyps—a systematic review

Abstract Introduction The recognition of complex colonic polyps is increasing. Management varies considerably and the impact this on clinical outcomes unclear. aim systematic review was to assess group decision-making strategies defined selection criteria treatment polyps. Method A literature identified studies reporting polyp describing their strategies. Databases searched included PubMed, Web Science, CINAHL Scopus. Articles were by two blinded reviewers using inclusion criteria. protocol registered PROSPERO performed in line with PRISMA guidelines. Results There 303 articles Only 9 these fully described strategy met median adverse event, unsuspected malignancy secondary surgery rates 7.7%, 3.8% 14.4% respectively. Grouping into a hierarchy demonstrated sequential reduction improving rate significantly lower no significant difference comparisons event or rates. Conclusions limited outcomes. use may reduce need for This has implications cost effectiveness healthcare systems benefits patient quality life.
